From October through May, two nights a week (see schedule below), children come to Westminster Presbyterian Church for tutoring and homework help. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 the children eat a nutritious meal, explore during free time, and learn through tutoring. During the summer months, a variety of activities are offered to enrich and promote friendships and community.

Tutors Members from our church family and community friends who care for the welfare and well-being of children, share their hobbies, interests and talents once or twice a week. They are students, teachers, doctors, lawyers, parents, grandparents , young and old who find this opportunity exciting and fulfilling. Tutoring is for the committed and dedicated. For those who find a full-time commitment difficult, being a substitute or volunteering with clerical work brings them satisfaction.

Children Children ranging in ages from 5 to 18 who reside on Ferguson Avenue and the neighboring streets, ride the bus once or twice a week to Westminster. They bring with them homework, class projects and lots of energy. Friendships between children and adults are made while they play games, read books, do crafts and laugh. The children's excitement for this program is evident through their eagerness to attend week after week and their want to share the program with family and friends.

Computer Center Through the generosity of Mrs. Patricia Colby, the McCarthy family and additional church members, the ENERGY program opened the McCarthy Computer Center in 1998. Equipped with six new Pentium II computers and educational software, the center provides the children with numerous opportunities for exploration and growth.

Involvement We need your support to ensure the continued success of this program. Please fill out and return the information form. Informational workshops are held twice a year to provide those who are interested with program information and tutorial assistance. Donations of food and educational supplies are always welcome. Contributions to the ENERGY program help to support the tutoring program and expand our learning environment.

We follow the Buffalo School Schedule. If school is canceled for any reason, there will be no tutoring for that day.
