ENERGY TUTORING PROGRAM The ENERGY (Education, Nurture, Encouragement, Readiness and Growth for Youth) Tutoring Program at Westminster Presbyterian Church serves students from Buffalo’s Westside community. Students attending our program reside in the Ferguson Avenue/Grant Street neighborhood.

Transportation is provided for students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. From 4:30 to 6:30 PM, students participate in recreational activities, eat a nutritious supper, and receive individualized homework help. Field trips, special events, school supplies and incentives are also provided for students and their families.

Tutors enjoy their time with students and feel the satisfaction of seeing students improve and grow both in academic and social skills. Both students and tutors treasure the relationships they build over time. Tutors, students and other volunteers sit together during meals in a family-style setting. Volunteers may also help, present cultural or recreational activities, provide technology assistance, and/or plan and special events.

The ENERGY Tutoring Program welcomes additional tutors and volunteers from the community who can donate time on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 PM. The program follows the Buffalo Public Schools calendar and is open only when the schools are open.

Tutoring is for the dedicated and committed individual. We are seeking volunteer tutors for:

Tuesday and Wednesday (4 hours total)
Tuesday or Wednesday (2 hours total)

Other positions are available for mentors, cooks, substitute tutors, and special activity leaders. These are all valuable and much appreciated contributions to the program. We follow the Buffalo School Schedule. If school is canceled for any reason, there will be no tutoring for that day.
